Stem Cells & Thinning Hair
The following is for educational purposes: All cells in our body constantly go through the cycle of life. They divide and new cells are formed; they then age and die and the cycle repeats itself.
Stem cells are minuscule progenitor cells in our bodies distinguished from other cell types by two important characteristics. First, they are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division, sometimes after long periods of inactivity. Second, under certain physiologic or experimental conditions, they can be induced to become tissue- or organ-specific cells with special functions. This adaptability is what makes them so unique and offers great hope in what is now called regenerative medicine in combating disease, injury and other ailments. In some organs, such as the gut and bone marrow, stem cells regularly divide to repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. Stem cells are the body’s natural healing elements.
There are different types of stem cells now available for specific treatments. For obvious reasons, we are going to educate you on the three types used in the More Hair Naturally® 9 formula for the purposes of combating thinning hair.
The first is a human stem cell that is adipose-derived. The origin is adult fat cells. These stem cells are NOT associated with embryonic stem cells, which are currently burdened with controversy. Adult fat cells are donated, similar to blood or plasma and the stem cells extracted. Adipose tissue (fat cells) offer one of the richest sources of adult stem cells. For example 1 gram of fat provides 500 times more stem cells than 1 gram of aspirated bone marrow (another adult source of stem cells). Due to DHT build-up, age and other factors there can be damage to the main hair components that produce hair and therefore they are not functioning properly. The idea behind stem cells is that that may help rebuild or repair these components.
The other two stem cells used in More Hair Naturally® 9 are plant-based, originating from the mountain ginseng root and bamboo sprouts. For thousands of years ginseng has been believed to help dozens of maladies and ailments and several studies have shown that much of it is true. The ginseng root derived stem cell is believed to be effective for its ability to differentiate into various stem cells of specialized functions. The theory here is why stop at 1 stem cell when 2 is better; and if these botanical stem cells can evolve and help the main hair components that other stem cells cannot, mission accomplished. Bamboo is widely known to be one of the fastest growing plants on the planet. The secret to its speed is believed by scientists to lie in its stem cell reproduction and that this “enhanced growth attribute” may transfer to other stem cells when introduced. Hence, it may possible to reduce the repair time and the increase the anagen phase of the hair.
